Cold weather, warm stitches

I’ll be honest, when I sat down to write this blog post, my brain was about as grey as the weather outside. Zero inspiration, cold fingers, and a strong urge to just make another cup of coffee instead. ☕😅

So before we go any further, grab yourself a hot brew (or whatever keeps you warm), get comfy, and let’s dive in.

Perfect weather for crochet

It’s cold, it’s wet, and everything outside feels a bit miserable. But if there’s one upside to this weather, it’s that it’s perfect crochet weather.

This is the kind of season where slowing down feels natural. The rain taps on the windows, the days feel a little heavier, and suddenly sitting with yarn and a hook feels like exactly where you’re meant to be.

Behind the scenes at Rockin’ Threads Creations

Lately, I’ve been spending my days crocheting stock for Love Local Hub MK. Lots of repeating stitches, counting rows (and recounting them…), and watching handmade pieces slowly come together.

There’s something really comforting about this part of the process. It’s quiet, steady, and reminds me why I love creating handmade flowers in the first place.

👉Where to find my work in Milton Keynes.

Why crochet flowers shine in winter

This time of year always reminds me why crocheted flowers are so special. When fresh flowers struggle in the cold, crochet blooms keep bringing colour, warmth, and a little bit of joy into your home.

No watering. No wilting. Just long-lasting beauty that doesn’t mind grey skies.

👉 Home décor flowers collection

A little love on a stem

If winter feels a bit heavy (and honestly, it often does), thoughtful gifts mean even more. That’s why my Birth Month Flowers are one of my favourite pieces to make.

February’s birth flower: Violet 💜

As we step into February, its birth flower takes centre stage and it is the violet. Violets symbolise loyalty, faithfulness, and quiet strength. They may be small, but they carry a lot of meaning, making them a beautiful reminder that strength doesn’t always need to shout.

To add a little extra warmth, I’ve introduced a heart on a stem. A small, meaningful addition that feels like a hug in yarn form. Right now, when you buy a February Birth Month Flower (or any birth month flower), you can get the heart on a stem with 15% off.

It’s perfect for February birthdays, thoughtful “just because” gifts, or a gentle reminder to yourself that you’re doing alright.

👉February Birth Month Flower

Wedding florals that last forever

Behind the scenes, I’m also working on something special for couples planning their big day. My buttonhole wedding corsages and bridesmaids bouquets will soon be available online only through my Etsy shop and website.

Crochet wedding flowers are designed to last. No wilting, no rushing, and something you can keep long after the day itself. Even in the depths of winter, love stories are always quietly being planned.

A Valentine’s Gift That Lasts Forever (Plus a Little Love from Me)

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and every year it raises the same question:

What do you give someone you love that actually means something?

Chocolate gets eaten. Flowers fade.
And while those gifts are lovely in the moment, sometimes you want something that lasts, something personal, thoughtful, and chosen just for them.

That’s exactly why I love birth month flowers as Valentine’s gifts.

Why Birth Month Flowers Make Such a Meaningful Valentine’s Gift

A birth month flower isn’t just “another bunch of flowers”.
It carries meaning, symbolism, and a personal connection to the person receiving it.

Each crocheted flower I make is:

  • 🌼 Handmade with care

  • 🌼 Everlasting (no wilting here!)

  • 🌼 Full of personal meaning

Whether you’re shopping for a partner, a friend, or even yourself (because self-love counts too ), a birth flower says:
“I didn’t just grab something last minute — I chose this for you.”

January Behind the Scenes at Rockin’ Threads Creations.

January is often called the “quiet” month for small businesses , but behind the scenes at Rockin’ Threads Creations, it’s been anything but slow.

This week has been one of those weeks where the to-do list never quite ends. Between creating long-promised new listings, photographing products, hosting a crochet class, and attempting to keep on top of housework (I’m convinced my cleaning fairies took the week off), it’s been full-on. Luckily, Alex has been a huge help while juggling everything alongside his radio show.

As busy as it gets, I truly wouldn’t change it. Being able to work from home, create handmade flowers, and pour love into meaningful pieces is exactly why Rockin’ Threads Creations exists.

New crocheted wedding bouquets

One of the biggest wins this week was finally launching my crocheted wedding bouquets. These bouquets are designed for brides who want something timeless, personal, and everlasting, a keepsake that can be cherished long after the big day.

And yes, for the photoshoot I had to model them myself. With no wedding dress available, an old satin sheet had to do, small business life at its finest! Sometimes you just have to make it work and have a laugh along the way.

Crocheted hearts for Valentine’s and beyond

I’ve also added crocheted hearts to the shop. Including hearts on stems, single hearts, and support hearts. These make lovely Valentine’s gifts, thoughtful additions to bouquets, or small tokens of love.

Some of these hearts are made as comfort or support hearts. They are gentle keepsakes created for moments when words don’t quite feel like enough, whether that’s offering reassurance, remembering a loved one, or simply letting someone know they’re not alone. Each one is made with care, intention, and understanding.

A full website refresh

This week also came with a big behind-the-scenes change: I completely refreshed my website. Every product is now available in the web shop again, the branding has been updated, and I’m now writing a weekly blog to share what’s happening behind the scenes at Rockin’ Threads Creations.

If you haven’t had a look yet, there’s lots to explore. From handmade crochet flowers to stories about the process behind them.

January: a month of renewal

January may look quiet from the outside, but for me it’s become a month of renewal, updating, and laying foundations for the year ahead. It’s busy, creative, and full of intention and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thank you, as always, for supporting my small business, sharing my work, and being part of the Rockin’ Threads Creations community. Your support means more than you know.

Catch you all next week, with more Rockin’ Threads Creations stories.

Crocheted Hearts & Everlasting Flowers: Handmade Keepsakes That Tell a Story

At Rockin’ Threads Creations, every stitch has a purpose. What started as a love for yarn, flowers, and handmade beauty has grown into a small business built on creating pieces that last longer than the moment they’re given.

As January settles in and Valentine’s Day peeks around the corner, I’ve been busy designing something new to sit alongside my crocheted flowers, crocheted hearts on a stem. Just like everything I make, they’re designed to be meaningful, versatile, and full of heart.

Why Crocheted Hearts?

Valentine’s Day is often filled with short-lived gifts, flowers that fade, chocolates that disappear, cards that are tucked away. Crocheted hearts offer something different.

They’re a keepsake, made slowly and intentionally, designed to be cherished long after the occasion has passed. Whether they’re gifted in love, friendship, or remembrance, they carry meaning far beyond the day they’re given.

Placed on a stem, these hearts can be used in so many ways:

  • Added to a bouquet for a personal, handmade touch

  • Gifted on their own as a sweet Valentine or Galentine gesture

  • Displayed in a vase as simple seasonal décor

  • Paired with crocheted flowers for an everlasting alternative to fresh blooms

  • Kept as a reminder of love long after Valentine’s Day

Watch the Crocheted Hearts Being Made

I’ve added a short video below showing how the crocheted hearts are made by hand, from the first stitch to the final shape.

I love sharing these behind-the-scenes moments because they show the care, time, and intention that goes into each piece. Crocheting is a calm, thoughtful process for me there’s no rushing and no mass production. Each heart is made slowly, with purpose, and with the person who will eventually receive it in mind.

I hope watching the process gives you a little glimpse into the heart behind Rockin’ Threads Creations.

Crocheted Hearts as Comfort, Keepsake & Duo Hearts

Crocheted hearts aren’t only for gifting or decorating but they can also carry deep emotional meaning.

They can be used as comfort hearts, keepsake hearts, or duo hearts, offering connection during some of life’s most difficult moments. Duo hearts are often given as a matching pair, one for the person who is nearing the end of life, and one for a loved one to keep close. Even when they are apart, the hearts serve as a quiet reminder that they are still connected.

These types of hearts are often used by hospices to give to people who are dying and their families. Small enough to be held in the hand or kept close, they can bring comfort, reassurance, and a sense of closeness at a time when words often fall short.

Made softly and intentionally, crocheted hearts can become something to hold onto, not just physically, but emotionally too.

What Is Galentine’s Day?

To be honest when I saw this term the first time I didn’t know what it meant but after some research this is what I got out of it.

Galentine’s Day is celebrated on 13th February, the day before Valentine’s Day, and is all about celebrating friendship and platonic love.

While Valentine’s Day often focuses on romantic relationships, Galentine’s Day is a chance to appreciate your best friends, chosen family, and the people who support and uplift you. Whether it’s a small gift, a thoughtful note, or something handmade, it’s about connection and appreciation. So it is a lovely day to celebrate friendships.

Crocheted hearts and everlasting crochet flowers make beautiful Galentine’s Day gifts. Thoughtful, personal, and designed to be kept.

More Than Flowers: The Story Behind Rockin’ Threads Creations

Rockin’ Threads Creations was born from a love of handmade craftsmanship and meaningful design. I wanted to create floral pieces that could be enjoyed every day — not just for a week or two.

Every flower is crocheted by hand using quality yarns, carefully shaped and finished so they feel realistic, timeless, and full of character. No two are ever exactly the same, and that individuality is part of their charm.

I specialize in Birth Month Flowers. Every month has its own flower that will make it the perfect gift. They are unique and everlasting. Next to the Birth Month Flowers I make all kinds of Home decor flowers. And occasionally I crochet items such as the hearts for Valentine’s Day.

How You Can Use Crocheted Flowers

One of the things my customers love most is how versatile crocheted flowers are. They fit beautifully into many moments and spaces:

  • Home décor for shelves, vases, and workspaces

  • Meaningful gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, and milestones

  • Valentine’s Day and Galentine’s Day keepsakes

  • Weddings and events as lasting floral alternatives. (There is a line of wedding bouquets coming up shortly)

  • Memory and tribute pieces chosen with intention

Caring for Your Crocheted Flowers

Crocheted flowers are wonderfully easy to care for:

  • No watering required

  • No wilting or shedding petals

  • Keep dry and away from direct sunlight

  • Light dusting or gentle shaking keeps them fresh

  • You can also clean them with a damp cloth.

They’re designed to be enjoyed year after year.

A Handmade Alternative That Lasts

Whether it’s a crocheted heart or a full floral arrangement, each piece from Rockin’ Threads Creations is made with intention, care, and a love for detail.

In a world that moves quickly, these creations invite you to slow down, to give something thoughtful, personal, and lasting.

Floral Home Décor Trends for a Fresh Start | Flower of the Year Hydrangea.

The beginning of a new year often brings a desire to refresh our homes. Not necessarily with major makeovers, but with thoughtful changes that make our spaces feel lighter, calmer and more inviting.

This year’s floral home décor trends are all about softness and longevity. Muted tones, organic shapes and natural materials are taking centre stage. Instead of constantly buying disposable décor, more people are choosing handmade pieces that feel personal and are made to last.

A perfect example of this shift is the Fire Light Hydrangea, named Flower of the Year. This stunning bloom starts with fresh white petals and slowly transitions into warm pinks and reds as it matures. Its meaning is deeply rooted in gratitude, emotional connection and abundance, making it a beautiful symbol for new beginnings and intentional living.

Hydrangeas are incredibly versatile when used as vase flowers. A single stem can make a quiet statement in a bud vase, while a fuller arrangement brings softness and balance to larger spaces. Their rounded shape adds a gentle, calming presence. Ideal for modern homes that value warmth over clutter.

Crocheted flowers fit perfectly into this slower approach to decorating. They add texture and beauty without demanding care, and they never lose their charm. Styled on their own or paired with ceramics, books or real greenery, they bring lasting life into a space.

At Rockin’ Threads Creations, every flower is designed slowly and thoughtfully, inspired by real blooms and crafted to be enjoyed year after year. Recently, I’ve been considering turning the Fire Light Hydrangea into a crocheted design, one that captures its soft color changes and full, comforting shape.

Before I make it official, I’d love to hear from you. Would a crocheted Hydrangea be something you’d love to see in my Etsy shop or webshop? Your interest helps shape what I create next. Comment on this post or send me and Email at willeke@rockinthreadscreations.co.uk

If you’re looking for a gentle way to refresh your home this year, flowers that never fade and are chosen with meaning, Rockin’ Threads Creations might be the perfect place to start.

Hello 2026: January Birth Flower, Handmade Bouquets & What’s Coming at Rockin’ Threads

A brand-new year is here, and I want to start by wishing you a very Happy New Year. I hope 2026 will be everything you wished for, and maybe even a little more.

Here at Rockin’ Threads Creations, the year started in a calm and cosy way. New Year’s Eve was a relaxed one, with me hosting a radio show while Alex enjoyed his regular New Year’s Day show. And while he’s busy on air, I’m tucked away with a hot coffee, writing this blog and easing gently into the first week of the year.

January always feels like a month for slower mornings, warm drinks, and quiet creativity, and that’s exactly what’s happening behind the scenes.

Wedding bouquets in the making 💐

I’ve recently finished a wedding bouquet featuring soft pink roses and delicate baby’s breath. Right now, I’m working on a new variation using rich red roses. It’s almost finished, and once it is, I’ll be photographing it and creating listings for both my website and Etsy shop. These bouquets take time, but each one is carefully crafted to be treasured forever.

January Birth Month Flower: The Carnation 🌸

A new month means a new birth flower, and January belongs to the Carnation. This beautiful bloom symbolizes love, fascination, and devotion, making it a meaningful flower for gifting or displaying in your home.

Paired with January’s flower is the Garnet crystal, known for its grounding energy, protection, and strength. It’s a powerful crystal to begin the year with, encouraging confidence and passion as we move forward into 2026.

My crocheted January carnations are available in both my web shop and Etsy shop, perfect if you love flowers that never fade.

What would you love to read about this year?

Now that I’ve covered all the birth month flowers and crystals in my monthly blogs, I’m working on new ideas for 2026. This month is going to be all about the flower of the year 2026. Maybe there’s a flower you adore and would love to learn more about? Or perhaps topics around handmade living, home décor, or meaningful gifting?

I’d love your input, feel free to reach out and let me know what you’d enjoy seeing on the blog this year. You can comment underneath the blog or send me an email on willeke@rockinthreadscreations.co.uk

A little Valentine’s sneak peek ❤️

Although it may feel early, Valentine’s Day will be here before we know it. Alongside classic roses, I’ll soon be sharing alternative Valentine’s gifts, like birth month flowers or crocheted hearts, with or without stems. With stem you can add them to your valentines bouquet.

Keep an eye on the blog, newsletter, and social media, as there may be a Valentine’s Sale coming soon.

As I step into this new year of Rockin’ Threads Creations, my focus is on creating with intention, refining favourite designs, and staying connected with this wonderful community. Thank you, as always, for your support, it truly means the world.

Here’s to a creative, cosy, and flower-filled 2026.

Catch you all soon!

Willeke

A Year of Growth, Grit & Hope at Rockin’ Threads Creations

This year hasn’t been the easiest one for Rockin’ Threads Creations — and that’s something I want to be open about.

Behind the pretty photos and carefully stitched flowers were quiet craft fairs, lower-than-hoped-for sales, and moments of wondering whether I was doing the right thing. Running a small handmade business can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be tough — especially when things don’t go as expected.

There were times this year where it felt heavy. Times where I had to step back, rethink, and learn the hard way. And yes, next year I may be getting a job alongside my business — not because I’m giving up, but because sometimes you do what you need to do to keep going.

And that’s okay.

What This Year Taught Me

Even in a difficult year, there was growth.

I learned:

  • What truly works and what doesn’t.

  • How important community and genuine support are.

  • That handmade still matters, even in quieter seasons.

  • That resilience is built one small step at a time.

Every slow fair and quiet week came with lessons I’ll be carrying forward.

Still Blooming

Despite everything, Rockin’ Threads Creations is still here.

This year, your favourite crocheted flowers included:

  • Birth Month Flowers

  • Sunflowers

  • Lilies

  • Delphinium

  • Gladiolus

Each order, message, and kind word reminded me why I started this journey — to create meaningful, lasting flowers for life’s moments, big and small.

Looking Ahead to 2026

I truly believe 2026 is going to be a better year.

Not a perfect one — but a more focused, sustainable, and thoughtful one. A year where I refine instead of rush, grow at my own pace, and build a business that works with life rather than against it.

Rockin’ Threads Creations isn’t going anywhere. If anything, it’s growing stronger roots.

A Small Thank You: End-of-Year Sale

As a thank you for supporting my small handmade business , especially through a tough year, I’m running an end-of-year sale until 1st January 2026.

If you’ve been thinking about:

  • Treating yourself to flowers that never fade.

  • Gifting something meaningful.

  • Supporting handmade as we head into a new year.

This is a lovely time to do so. 💛
Every order truly helps support this small business as it steps into its next chapter.

Thank you for being part of this journey — the good, the hard, and everything in between.

Here’s to learning, growing, and hopefully sorting out a blooming business in the year ahead 🌸

With love and the best wishes for 2026,
Willeke

Boxing Day the Cosy Way: Online Bargains, Crochet & a Little Country Music

Christmas has officially passed, and I hope yours was full of warmth, good food, and lovely moments 🎄
Mine was a wonderfully relaxed one. We had a friend and Alex’s mum over, I cooked a nice meal, and the day was filled with chatting, laughing, and enjoying each other’s company. No rushing, no stress – just how I like it.

And now… Boxing Day.

Here in the UK, Boxing Day is famously linked with getting up at an ungodly hour to queue outside shops in the cold, all in the name of a bargain. At least, that’s what I’ve been told 😅
I’ll be honest – it’s not for me. I’m far happier staying warm, avoiding the crowds, and doing my bargain shopping online.

If you’re the same, you’ll be pleased to know that you can shop Rockin’ Threads Creations the cosy way too. My Etsy shop is open, and there’s 15% off all items, making it the perfect time to treat yourself to some handcrafted crochet or pick up a thoughtful gift for someone special.

Later today, I’ll be swapping crochet hooks for headphones as I head over to Rockin50’s Radio. From 3pm (UK time), I’ll be hosting my Country Special, bringing you a feel-good mix of country tunes. If you fancy listening along, come and join me – I’ll be on air as Miss Mayhem 🎶🤠

For the rest of the day, I’ll be finishing off the final orders of the year, getting everything wrapped up and ready before we step into a brand new one. It feels good to end the year doing what I love most: creating and sending handmade pieces out into the world.

That’s all for today. Thank you so much for being part of the Rockin’ Threads Creations journey this year. I’ll be back next week with a year round-up, but for now, enjoy your Boxing Day, shop cosy, and have a wonderful weekend.

Warm wishes,
Willeke

Merry Christmas from Rockin’ Threads Creations 🎄

I hope you are well and fully wrapped up in the magic of the season (and possibly in tinsel, fairy lights, or yarn—no judgement here 😉).

I just wanted to pop in with a little Christmas hello to wish you a very Merry Christmas from Rockin’ Threads Creations. What a year it’s been! A year filled with stitches, blooms, creativity, and most importantly… you.

Every order, message, share, and kind word has meant more to me than I can put into words. Knowing my crocheted flowers have found their way into your homes, been gifted to loved ones, and become part of special moments honestly makes my heart do a little happy dance.

I hope the next few days are all about slowing down, cosying up, and spending quality time with the people who matter most. I’ll be doing exactly that—putting the crochet hook down (briefly!) and soaking up some festive family time.

Before I disappear behind the Christmas tree and a pile of wrapping paper, here’s a little festive reminder 🎁
My End of Year Sale is still on in my Etsy shop
Enjoy 15% off everything, just in case a flower or two has been sitting on your wish list.

Thank you for being part of the Rockin’ Threads Creations journey this year. I cannot wait to share even more flowers, colour, and creativity with you in the year ahead.

The Poinsettia: A Christmas Classic (Without the Christmas Chaos)

There’s one flower that instantly says Christmas has arrived — the Poinsettia.
Bold, festive, and unapologetically dramatic, this iconic bloom has been gracing our homes for generations… usually just in time to drop leaves, cause panic around pets, or be quietly ushered out come January.

But what if you could enjoy all the beauty, meaning, and festive vibes of the poinsettia — without the mess, stress, or toxicity?

Let me introduce you to the crocheted poinsettia, Rockin’ Threads Creations style 🎄🧶

The Meaning of the Poinsettia 🌺

The poinsettia isn’t just a pretty Christmas face — it’s full of symbolism:

  • Celebration & Joy – Perfect for festive homes and heartfelt gifts

  • Good Cheer & Success – A wonderful way to wish someone well

  • Love & Warmth – Making it ideal for winter décor and seasonal gifting

In short? It’s a flower that brings comfort, tradition, and festive magic all wrapped into one.

How Poinsettias Are Traditionally Used

Poinsettias are usually:

  • Displayed as Christmas centrepieces

  • Given as seasonal gifts

  • Used to add a pop of colour to windowsills, tables, and mantels

They look stunning… briefly.

Then reality hits.

The Not-So-Festive Truth About Real Poinsettias 😬

Let’s talk about the elephant (or cat… or dog) in the room.

Real poinsettias are:

  • 🚫 Poisonous to pets (and irritating to humans too)

  • 🚿 Fussy — too much water, too little light, wrong temperature

  • Short-lived — festive for a few weeks, sad shortly after

  • 🗑️ Often thrown away once the season ends

Not exactly the lasting joy we’re aiming for.

Why a Crocheted Poinsettia Is the Better Choice ✨

This is where Rockin’ Threads Creations steps in.

My hand-crocheted poinsettias are:

  • 🐾 100% pet-safe

  • 🌿 Sustainable & reusable

  • ❤️ Made to last year after year

  • 🧶 Crafted with care, detail, and a whole lot of love

They bring the same festive charm, but without the stress — and they don’t mind being packed away and brought out again next Christmas.

Perfect for:

  • Cozy festive home décor

  • Thoughtful Christmas gifts

  • Allergy-friendly and pet-friendly homes

  • Anyone who loves flowers but not flower maintenance

A Little Rockin’ Threads Magic ✨

At Rockin’ Threads Creations, every flower tells a story.

I crochet flowers that never fade, inspired by nature, meaning, and the moments we want to hold onto. My poinsettias are designed to bring warmth and joy into your home — not just for Christmas, but as a keepsake you’ll cherish.

It’s festive décor with heart. 💕

Christmas Catch-Ups, Busy Hooks & Adding Colour to Your Home After Christmas

Earlier this month, I told myself — and you — that I was going to be on time with my Christmas shopping this year.

Spoiler alert: it didn’t happen 😅

Here I am, still hunting for last-minute gifts and doing the food shop, fully accepting that this might just be who I am. And honestly? I’m okay with that.

Busy Hooks & New Creations

Last week I didn’t manage to send out a newsletter because I’ve been incredibly busy with orders — and I still am. Thank you so much for supporting my small business and keeping my crochet hooks moving. It truly means more than you know.

Earlier this month I also shared that I’d been working on two new products: a crocheted wedding bouquet and an Iris flower. They’re both finished, but they’ll officially be released early next year once all the behind-the-scenes work is done — photos, listings, descriptions, and all the other bits that come with launching something new.

A Little Life Update

Outside of crochet, life has been fairly calm. We went away for a Rock ’n Roll weekender earlier this month, which was a lovely break before diving straight back into a busy order season.

In between orders, I’ve been decorating the house for Christmas — and I must say, it’s looking rather cosy.

We’ve also gained a part-time feline visitor. He’s been popping in, eating the food, and making himself at home. After a bit of detective work, I found out he does have an owner, but he’s welcome to hang out here. My other two cats aren’t convinced yet, but time will tell!

Adding Colour After Christmas

Once Christmas is over and the tree and decorations come down, the house can suddenly feel a little bare. January has a way of doing that — quieter rooms, fewer lights, and not quite as much colour around.

That’s exactly why flowers can make such a difference.

Crocheted flowers are a simple way to keep warmth and colour in your home without any upkeep. Whether it’s a sunflower to lift your mood, a lily for a calm and elegant corner, or a meaningful birth month flower, they’re designed to bring joy long after the festive season ends.

🌸 Ready to Add a Little Colour?

When the decorations come down and the house feels a bit empty, a crocheted flower is a lovely way to keep things cheerful — without needing any care at all.

I’m currently running an End of Year Sale with 15% off all crocheted flowers in my Etsy shop.
Sunflowers, lilies, and birth month flowers are all included and ready to brighten your space.

Bloom Into December with the Narcissus

The Meaning Behind December’s Bloom: The Narcissus

December’s birth flower, the Narcissus, is a symbol of hope, renewal, and brighter days ahead. With its elegant, trumpet-shaped bloom, it has long been associated with positivity, charm, and warmth — exactly what we crave during the winter season.

Gifting Narcissus flowers is also thought to bring good fortune and prosperity, making it a thoughtful and meaningful present during the holidays.

Pairing the Narcissus With December’s Crystal

This month, the Narcissus pairs beautifully with Turquoise, December’s crystal of the month.

💙 Known for protection, clarity, and calming energy, Turquoise brings balance and peace to your winter home.
💙 Together with the Narcissus, it symbolizes renewal and emotional clarity — the perfect way to close the year on a meaningful note.

Use this combination in your décor, gift-giving, or personal space to bring soft winter magic and a little extra glow to December.

Why I Chose to Crochet the Narcissus

Each birth flower I create begins with research. I study the anatomy, symbolism, traditional colours, and little quirks that make each bloom special. With the Narcissus, the goal was to recreate that delicate trumpet centre and soft, layered petals — a unique challenge but a joy to bring to life.

Crocheted flowers allow me to blend creativity with storytelling. Every petal is a little piece of heritage, symbolism, and beauty that lasts forever.

New Arrivals, Road Trips & Handmade Magic

This week has been a busy but exciting one at Rockin’ Threads Creations. Between finishing orders, creating new products, and prepping for a rock ’n roll weekender in Ilfracombe, the studio has been buzzing with energy (and yarn… everywhere).

As we make our way down to Devon for a long drive filled with music, coffee, and maybe a little half-asleep grumbling from me as I am not a morning person. I wanted to share a behind-the-scenes peek at what’s new.

Grab yourself a cosy brew and dive in with me.

🌼 A New Lace-Crocheted Iris Is Blooming Soon

I’m thrilled to introduce one of my newest creations: a delicate lace-crocheted Iris that will be available very soon.

The Iris has always been one of my favourite flowers, and when I came across a stunning pattern from TanitkaLace, I knew it had to become part of my collection. After hours of shaping petals, adjusting details, and choosing the right colour combinations, it's almost ready for the storefront.

Each Iris will be available in a variety of colourways, and the one shown in the photo is just a small preview of what's coming.
This piece is elegant, intricate, and perfect for displaying all year round.

💐 A Handmade Wedding Bouquet — Months in the Making

The second new arrival is something incredibly special: a handcrafted crocheted wedding bouquet.

This bouquet was a true labour of love. I’ve spent months perfecting the composition and choosing the right balance of flowers, crocheting each bloom, and ensuring the final piece feels truly timeless. The one pictured is made in classic colours, but the bouquet will be offered as a commission item.

That means you can customise it to match your dream wedding palette.

In the future, more wedding items will join this line—corsages, table decorations, and more, but as with all handmade creations, crafting a full collection takes time. Beautiful things grow slowly.

If you’re interested in a custom bouquet or want matching wedding accessories, you can email me directly at willeke@rockinthreadscreations.co.uk and we’ll create something completely unique to your day.

☕ A Week of Chaos, Creativity & Connection

Road trips, yarn bundles, early mornings, and new creations—this week reminded me why I love what I do. Handmade work takes time, heart, and patience, and I’m grateful every week for the wonderful community supporting Rockin’ Threads Creations.

🌸 Life, Memories & Handmade Joys: Cyber Week at Rockin’ Threads Creations

This week has been a tough one. On Sunday, our close and dear friend Stuart lost his battle with cancer, and for a moment, it felt like the world had stopped. Yet, of course, life keeps moving — and with it, my business, my crochet hooks, and the little joys that help us carry on.

We’ve spent the week crying, laughing, and sharing memories of Stuart — a funny, loud, and lovely soul. Amid the sadness, there’s happiness too: that his suffering is over, that we can honor his life with laughter, and that we can celebrate the love he shared. As a tribute, I dedicated my radio show to him (you can listen here if you are curious)— playing all of his favorite songs, along with tracks listeners sent that reminded us of him. I like to think he had a chuckle up there, because as he always said: “It is what it is.”

Even in the midst of heavy emotions, life offers little pockets of joy. One of my newsletter subscribers in Finland, Zoë, recently moved from the UK and has been enjoying a winter wonderland — making snow angels, building snowmen, and braving temperatures of -17°C! ❄️ (Brrrr!) Reading her updates reminded me how even the smallest moments — like a snowy morning or a cup of hot coffee — can brighten our days.

🎁 Handmade Joys for the Holiday Season

These little joys are exactly why I create handmade crocheted flowers. Each bloom is crafted with care, perfect for gifting, decorating your home, or treating yourself. Whether it’s a cozy home décor flower, a meaningful birth month flower, or a vibrant bouquet, they remind us to slow down, celebrate the little things, and share love with those around us.

🎄 Stress-Free Gifting Starts Now: My Cyber Week Sale Is Here!

Is it just me, or did this year fly by faster than a jiver on a Friday night? One minute I was crocheting spring flowers… and the next, I found myself humming Christmas songs while packing orders.

This week, as I sat down with my cosy cup of coffee (fuel for all good crochet work!), I had that familiar moment:
“Wait… Christmas is already around the corner?!”

Every year I swear I’ll be more organised. Every year December sneaks up on me like it owns the place. But not this time — and if you’re feeling the same way, I’ve got good news for both of us!

🎁 This Year, I’m Choosing Stress-Free Gifting

I’m making a promise to myself:
No last-minute panic. No rushing through shops. No wrapping presents the night before.

I’m starting early, choosing thoughtful gifts, and giving myself the chance to actually enjoy December rather than race through it.

And you know what? I thought my lovely readers might appreciate the same gentle nudge.

Because the truth is…
the most meaningful gifts — the ones that feel personal, handmade, heartfelt — deserve a little time.

🌸 Handmade Gifts with Heart

Whether you’re choosing a birth month flower, a beautifully detailed lily, a cosy sunflower, or a custom bloom for someone special, handmade gifts carry a magic that store-bought items simply can’t compete with.

They say:
“I thought of you.”
“You matter to me.”
“You deserve something unique.”

And that’s exactly why I created my crocheted flower collection — timeless blooms made to last, perfect for gifting, displaying, or treasuring.

✨ And Now for the Fun Part…

To make your early gifting even easier, I’m celebrating Cyber Week with something special:

🌼 15% OFF my entire Etsy shop — no code needed!

The Story Behind Rockin’ Threads Creations

How Rockin’ Threads Creations Began (and a Dash of Cheerful Chaos!)

It started with one hook, one skein of yarn, and one big dream — to create flowers that never fade.
Rockin’ Threads Creations began in the middle of my living room (and, if I’m honest, still occasionally takes over it!). I wanted to bring together my love for creativity, colour, and the feeling of giving something truly meaningful.

But really, the story goes back much further than that…

🧶 Where It Truly Began — Learning From My Nan

My nan taught me how to crochet many, many years ago. ( I know it is a familiar story, but it is the truth) I’ve been crocheting on and off for nearly 40 years now (jeez, I’m getting old… LOL). Those early stitches, made with tiny hooks and lots of patience, shaped the crafter I am today.

Crochet became a comfort, a familiar language of loops and love that always found its way back into my life — even during long breaks.

🌍 A New Country, A New Chapter

When I moved to the UK five years ago, I never imagined crochet would become my business.
A friend saw my amigurumi animals and asked me to make her one — and she wanted to pay for it! I was so surprised, but I made it for her… and then more orders came in. Little animals, dolls, cute characters — all crafted from yarn and joy.

I loved making amigurumi, but deep down I wanted to create something truly unique. Something that connected my past, my passions, and my skills.

🌸 From Hobby to Heartfelt Business

I’ve always had a background in the flower world and a lifelong love for blooms. Combine that with the price of fresh flowers here in the UK (so expensive!), and suddenly an idea was blooming:
Everlasting, crocheted flowers — handmade keepsakes that never wilt.

After a lot of research, experimenting, frogging, failing, trying again… I found my groove.
And today?
I have my own business — Rockin’ Threads Creations.
I crochet what I love and serve people who love my flowers just as much.
I’m still learning, still growing, and still grateful I took the leap into something that truly lights me up.

🎶 Why “Rockin’ Threads”?

The name is a little nod to my love of music — and to my alter ego, Miss Mayhem from Rockin50’s Radio! My show is on every Monday from 8pm till 10pm (UK time). Tune in and let me know, I would love to hear from you.
It captures the fun, retro energy that inspires me every single day.
I’m often crafting, creating, and dancing between stitches. 💃🎶

💖 My Mission

To make handmade flowers that tell a story — one that lasts far beyond the bouquet.
Whether it’s a keepsake gift, home décor treasure, wedding bouquet, or personal reminder, each bloom is crafted with care, meaning, and yes… a touch of cheerful chaos.

🌸 From Yarn to Bloom: How My Crochet Flowers Come to Life

As the air turns crisp and the leaves turn golden, I can really feel the holiday season starting up. Orders are picking up, and my studio is buzzing with colourful yarn and half-finished petals — it’s my favourite kind of busy!

I absolutely love creating crochet flowers for you lovely people — whether it’s a special gift for someone you care about or a way to bring everlasting beauty into your own home.

So, before I dive into another bundle of yarn, grab a warm drink and join me. I’ve got my hot chocolate with a splash of Baileys (yummy!) — the perfect creative fuel for a cozy evening. ☕🍫

🌼 The Secret Behind My Realistic Crochet Flowers

People often ask how I make my flowers look so realistic. The truth? It’s a mix of patience, yarn tangles, research, and a whole lot of love. 💕

Before I ever pick up my hook, I make myself a nice cup of coffee — my little moment of calm before the creativity begins. It’s my fuel, my ritual, and somehow the first step in every flower I create.

Once my coffee is in hand, I start researching crochet patterns and studying real flowers — their shapes, layers, and delicate colour blends. I want every petal to feel alive and true to nature.

A big part of my process is exploring patterns on Etsy from talented crochet designers or looking up helpful tutorials on YouTube for inspiration. When I use a design created by someone else, I always make sure to reach out to the designer and ask if it’s okay to sell the finished flowers in my shop. It’s not something that’s required, but I believe it’s the decent and respectful thing to do — after all, creativity deserves appreciation and acknowledgment. 🌷

🧶 From Pattern to Petal

Sometimes I’ll start with a traditional crochet pattern and tweak it until it captures exactly the look I’m after — adjusting petal shapes, colours, or layers. Other times, I’ll design my own pattern completely from scratch (which usually means a small mountain of test petals before I get it right!).

Once I’ve perfected the pattern, it’s time to bring it to life — petal by petal, stitch by stitch. It’s slow, detailed work, but it’s the part I love most. There’s something truly magical about watching a flower bloom from a simple ball of yarn.

Each one takes time, but that’s what makes it special — every flower has its own little story and touch of personality. And knowing it will bring joy for years to come makes every stitch worth it. 🌸

🌿 The Joy of Handmade

Creating crochet flowers isn’t just about yarn and patterns — it’s about connection. Every time I send one out, I know it’s going to brighten someone’s day, decorate a home, or carry a special meaning. That’s what keeps me inspired.

If you’d like to see a bit more of what goes on behind the stitches, I’ve shared some photos below.

🌼 Joy, Warmth & Chrysanthemums — November’s Bloom and a Little Update from the Studio

November has arrived — the air is crisp, the tea mugs are warm, and Christmas is just around the corner! 🎄✨
Here at Rockin’ Threads Creations, I can already feel the festive buzz as orders start to pick up quickly. It’s such a joy seeing so many of you choosing my crocheted flowers as heartfelt gifts this year.

If you’re planning to gift one of my blooms in time for Christmas, please note:
📦 Last UK shipping date: 17th December
🌍 Last international shipping date: 10th December
So, if you’ve had your eye on something special, now’s the perfect time to order to make sure your flowers arrive in time for the big day! 🌸🎁

A Little Studio Update

Last weekend, I attended the MK Handmade & Vintage Fair, and while it was lovely to meet so many wonderful people and chat about my flowers, it didn’t quite go as I’d hoped. After attending several fairs this year (and many cups of coffee while reflecting), I’ve decided to step back from craft fairs for a while.

I truly love the connection and conversations that come from meeting you all in person — that part I’ll really miss! But the cost of attending and slower sales have made me realise it’s time to focus my energy where it matters most: on my Etsy shop, website, and Love Local Hub MK. These spaces allow me to share my creations with you all over the world — and keep that same personal touch, just without the chilly halls and long setup days! 😉

The Meaning Behind November’s Flower — The Chrysanthemum

The Chrysanthemum has long been a symbol of joy, friendship, and resilience — qualities that feel especially meaningful as we approach the end of the year. In Japan, it’s even called the “flower of happiness,” reminding us to find light and warmth, even on the shortest days. 🌞

Paired with Topaz, November’s birthstone crystal, this duo radiates positive energy and calm strength — perfect for keeping your spirits high and your heart glowing as winter settles in.

In the Studio

My studio has been bursting with autumn tones lately — shades of red, rust, and creamy white — as I’ve been crocheting new chrysanthemums. Each bloom captures that cozy November feeling: soft blankets, flickering candles, and the last burst of colour before winter arrives.

If you or someone you love celebrates a November birthday, a crocheted chrysanthemum makes the perfect lasting gift — a flower that never fades, symbolising happiness and love. 🌼

Golden Glow & Gratitude – November’s Chrysanthemum & Topaz

As autumn fills our homes with golden light and cozy moments, November’s birth flower, the Chrysanthemum, and birthstone, the Topaz, remind us to celebrate joy, friendship, and gratitude. 🌼
At Rockin’ Threads Creations, I’ve captured that same warmth in my handmade crocheted chrysanthemums — lasting blooms that make beautiful birth month flower gifts or timeless home décor. This month’s blog dives into the meaning of November’s flower and crystal, shares colour inspiration, and includes a little treat — a 10% off Etsy sale on all crocheted flowers and handmade creations.

🌼 November’s Birth Flower: Chrysanthemum

The Chrysanthemum is the ultimate symbol of happiness and friendship. Its vibrant petals and cheerful energy make it a perfect bloom for November.

In Japan, it’s honoured every year during the Festival of Happiness — a celebration of joy and optimism. 🌸

✨ Bring that same warmth home with my crocheted chrysanthemums, lovingly handmade to bloom forever.

💎 November’s Birthstone: Topaz

The Topaz glows in golden shades and symbolises love, abundance, and good fortune. It’s said to attract positive energy, making it the perfect crystal to pair with November’s flower of joy.

Together, Chrysanthemum and Topaz create a pairing full of gratitude, comfort, and light.

🎨 November Mood Board: Warm Amber & Golden Sparkle

This month’s colours blend amber golds, soft creams, and earthy browns, with a touch of shimmering topaz. It’s a palette that feels cozy, inviting, and just a little bit magical — ideal for home décor and handmade treasures.

🧶 Handmade Flowers That Last Forever

My crocheted birth month flowers, including the vibrant Chrysanthemum, are available in my Etsy shop. Perfect as thoughtful gifts or lasting floral décor — because real beauty should never fade. 🌸

🎉 November Etsy Sale – Treat Yourself!

✨ Behind the Scenes: Dahlias, Craft Fair Prep & a Dash of Rock ’n Roll!

Hi lovely readers,

I know I’m a bit late posting this week, but I didn’t want to skip out completely. As we head deeper into autumn and closer to the craft fair and holiday season, things are getting busier than ever here at Rockin’ Threads Creations! Between making new stock, updating my listings, and, of course, crocheting, it’s full steam ahead in my little creative corner.

Lately, I’ve also been working on some new social media content and videos. One of them gives you a peek behind the scenes at how long it really takes to make a crocheted Dahlia flower. Spoiler alert — it’s not a quick job! Each one takes roughly eight hours from start to finish.

Don’t worry though — I’ve sped the video up to just one minute, because I wouldn’t dream of boring you with an eight-hour crochet marathon. 😄 Each petal, each layer, every stitch is made with care and attention to detail, and that’s what makes each piece unique. It’s also why pricing handmade work can be such a challenge — I never want to exclude anyone from enjoying my flowers, but like everyone else, I’ve got bills to pay (and sadly, the lottery hasn’t decided to fund my yarn addiction just yet!).

So, grab yourself a hot brew and settle in — here’s what’s been going on at Rockin’ Threads Creations lately. ☕💐

What’s Happening Behind the Scenes 🌸

As I mentioned before, I’m preparing for the MK Handmade & Vintage Winter Fair, which takes place from Friday the 31st of October until Sunday the 2nd of November.

It’s not just about building up stock — I’ve been putting a lot of thought into how I want my stall to look this year. I’ve ordered new backdrops and have been sketching out ideas for my setup. (I’ll probably rope Alex into helping soon so we can do a little test run at home — fingers crossed it all comes together the way I imagine!)

And of course, it’s also time to spread the word. This is where you can help — tell your friends and family that I’ll be at the MK Handmade & Vintage Winter Fair! If they’re after an everlasting flower or a unique handmade gift, this is the perfect time to find it.

October’s Birth Month Flowers 🌼

October is the month of the Marigold, a flower that symbolises warmth, passion, and creativity. But did you know that October actually has two birth flowers? The second one is the Cosmos, also known as the Tiger Flower or Mexican Aster.

The Cosmos symbolises balance, harmony, peace, and modesty — beautiful traits to reflect on as we move through the season of change. I don’t have a crocheted version of this one yet, but never say never! It might make its debut in the future.

Would you like to see a crocheted Cosmos flower from me one day? I’d love to hear what you think in the comments below!

A Touch of Rock ’n’ Roll 🎸

On the personal side of things — we’re heading out tomorrow to see a Dutch Rock ’n’ Roll band called The Explosion Rockets! They’re doing only two gigs in the UK this year. One of them is tonight in Wales (a bit too far for us), so we’ve got tickets for their Swindon show tomorrow instead.

I’m really looking forward to catching up with my sister and her family, who are the band’s road managers for the weekend. And yes, I’m finally getting the chance to dress up again — vintage dress, petticoat, and all! Though after a few too many “quality control” snack breaks while crocheting, it might be a bit of a squeeze. 😅

What about you? Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

That’s all from me for this week. Thank you for following along with all things Rockin’ Threads Creations — I can’t wait to share more behind-the-scenes peeks, new designs, and crafty adventures soon.

Until next time,
Willeke 🌸
Rockin’ Threads Creations
