A Year of Growth, Grit & Hope at Rockin’ Threads Creations
This year hasn’t been the easiest one for Rockin’ Threads Creations — and that’s something I want to be open about.
Behind the pretty photos and carefully stitched flowers were quiet craft fairs, lower-than-hoped-for sales, and moments of wondering whether I was doing the right thing. Running a small handmade business can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be tough — especially when things don’t go as expected.
There were times this year where it felt heavy. Times where I had to step back, rethink, and learn the hard way. And yes, next year I may be getting a job alongside my business — not because I’m giving up, but because sometimes you do what you need to do to keep going.
And that’s okay.
What This Year Taught Me
Even in a difficult year, there was growth.
I learned:
What truly works and what doesn’t.
How important community and genuine support are.
That handmade still matters, even in quieter seasons.
That resilience is built one small step at a time.
Every slow fair and quiet week came with lessons I’ll be carrying forward.
Still Blooming
Despite everything, Rockin’ Threads Creations is still here.
This year, your favourite crocheted flowers included:
Birth Month Flowers
Sunflowers
Lilies
Delphinium
Gladiolus
Each order, message, and kind word reminded me why I started this journey — to create meaningful, lasting flowers for life’s moments, big and small.
Looking Ahead to 2026
I truly believe 2026 is going to be a better year.
Not a perfect one — but a more focused, sustainable, and thoughtful one. A year where I refine instead of rush, grow at my own pace, and build a business that works with life rather than against it.
Rockin’ Threads Creations isn’t going anywhere. If anything, it’s growing stronger roots.
A Small Thank You: End-of-Year Sale
As a thank you for supporting my small handmade business , especially through a tough year, I’m running an end-of-year sale until 1st January 2026.
If you’ve been thinking about:
Treating yourself to flowers that never fade.
Gifting something meaningful.
Supporting handmade as we head into a new year.
This is a lovely time to do so. 💛
Every order truly helps support this small business as it steps into its next chapter.
Thank you for being part of this journey — the good, the hard, and everything in between.
Here’s to learning, growing, and hopefully sorting out a blooming business in the year ahead 🌸
With love and the best wishes for 2026,
Willeke

Christmas Catch-Ups, Busy Hooks & Adding Colour to Your Home After Christmas
Earlier this month, I told myself — and you — that I was going to be on time with my Christmas shopping this year.
Spoiler alert: it didn’t happen 😅
Here I am, still hunting for last-minute gifts and doing the food shop, fully accepting that this might just be who I am. And honestly? I’m okay with that.
Busy Hooks & New Creations
Last week I didn’t manage to send out a newsletter because I’ve been incredibly busy with orders — and I still am. Thank you so much for supporting my small business and keeping my crochet hooks moving. It truly means more than you know.
Earlier this month I also shared that I’d been working on two new products: a crocheted wedding bouquet and an Iris flower. They’re both finished, but they’ll officially be released early next year once all the behind-the-scenes work is done — photos, listings, descriptions, and all the other bits that come with launching something new.
A Little Life Update
Outside of crochet, life has been fairly calm. We went away for a Rock ’n Roll weekender earlier this month, which was a lovely break before diving straight back into a busy order season.
In between orders, I’ve been decorating the house for Christmas — and I must say, it’s looking rather cosy.
We’ve also gained a part-time feline visitor. He’s been popping in, eating the food, and making himself at home. After a bit of detective work, I found out he does have an owner, but he’s welcome to hang out here. My other two cats aren’t convinced yet, but time will tell!
Adding Colour After Christmas
Once Christmas is over and the tree and decorations come down, the house can suddenly feel a little bare. January has a way of doing that — quieter rooms, fewer lights, and not quite as much colour around.
That’s exactly why flowers can make such a difference.
Crocheted flowers are a simple way to keep warmth and colour in your home without any upkeep. Whether it’s a sunflower to lift your mood, a lily for a calm and elegant corner, or a meaningful birth month flower, they’re designed to bring joy long after the festive season ends.
🌸 Ready to Add a Little Colour?
When the decorations come down and the house feels a bit empty, a crocheted flower is a lovely way to keep things cheerful — without needing any care at all.
✨ I’m currently running an End of Year Sale with 15% off all crocheted flowers in my Etsy shop.
Sunflowers, lilies, and birth month flowers are all included and ready to brighten your space.

New Arrivals, Road Trips & Handmade Magic
This week has been a busy but exciting one at Rockin’ Threads Creations. Between finishing orders, creating new products, and prepping for a rock ’n roll weekender in Ilfracombe, the studio has been buzzing with energy (and yarn… everywhere).
As we make our way down to Devon for a long drive filled with music, coffee, and maybe a little half-asleep grumbling from me as I am not a morning person. I wanted to share a behind-the-scenes peek at what’s new.
Grab yourself a cosy brew and dive in with me.
🌼 A New Lace-Crocheted Iris Is Blooming Soon
I’m thrilled to introduce one of my newest creations: a delicate lace-crocheted Iris that will be available very soon.
The Iris has always been one of my favourite flowers, and when I came across a stunning pattern from TanitkaLace, I knew it had to become part of my collection. After hours of shaping petals, adjusting details, and choosing the right colour combinations, it's almost ready for the storefront.
Each Iris will be available in a variety of colourways, and the one shown in the photo is just a small preview of what's coming.
This piece is elegant, intricate, and perfect for displaying all year round.
💐 A Handmade Wedding Bouquet — Months in the Making
The second new arrival is something incredibly special: a handcrafted crocheted wedding bouquet.
This bouquet was a true labour of love. I’ve spent months perfecting the composition and choosing the right balance of flowers, crocheting each bloom, and ensuring the final piece feels truly timeless. The one pictured is made in classic colours, but the bouquet will be offered as a commission item.
That means you can customise it to match your dream wedding palette.
In the future, more wedding items will join this line—corsages, table decorations, and more, but as with all handmade creations, crafting a full collection takes time. Beautiful things grow slowly.
If you’re interested in a custom bouquet or want matching wedding accessories, you can email me directly at willeke@rockinthreadscreations.co.uk and we’ll create something completely unique to your day.

Why Handmade Matters More Than Ever – The Heart Behind Every Stitch
Hi lovely,
This week’s post is a little different — it’s educational but still full of hope, heart, and handmade love. 💕
I just want to let you know how things work here at Rockin’ Threads Creations and give you some insights into how it all affects my small handmade business — the time, love, and care that go into every single piece, and why handmade truly matters more than ever. 🌷
As autumn settles in, the world outside bursts into colour, and indoors my crochet hook is flying! I’ve been busy making stock for the upcoming winter fairs and festive season — including my absolute showstopper: a stunning crocheted Christmas tree. This Christmas Tree is only available at the MK Vintage & Craft Fair or as commission order. Get in touch if you are interested. 🎄
💕 The Heart Behind Every Flower
Each crocheted flower I make takes hours — not minutes. Every petal, leaf, and stem is created with care, patience, and love. 🌸
What makes crochet truly special is that it can’t be done by a machine — every single stitch must be made by hand. That means every flower you see from Rockin’ Threads Creations is completely handmade, one loop at a time. 🧶✨
When you buy a crocheted flower from me, you’re not just getting a decoration — you’re getting a piece of art filled with time, warmth, and soul.
🌿 Why Handmade Matters More Than Ever
You might have seen crocheted flowers popping up on sites like Temu for unbelievably low prices. While tempting, these prices often come at a high cost — both to people and to small artists.
🧵 Ethical and labour concerns: Many mass-produced crochet items are made under poor working conditions, sometimes involving unethical labour practices.
🌸 Design theft: Sites like Temu are known for copying designs from small crochet artists without consent or compensation. I use patterns of designers but I always buy the pattern and ask if it is ok to sell the finished product.
💔 Impact on small businesses: Some people even buy these mass-produced flowers and resell them on Etsy or at craft fairs, falsely advertising them as handmade — still at “too good to be true” prices. This hurts genuine makers and confuses buyers.
That’s why buying handmade truly matters. It keeps creativity alive, supports ethical craftsmanship, and ensures that your purchase carries a story — one made by human hands and a caring heart. 💖
