Rockin’ Threads Creations Blog
Hello 2026: January Birth Flower, Handmade Bouquets & What’s Coming at Rockin’ Threads
A brand-new year is here, and I want to start by wishing you a very Happy New Year. I hope 2026 will be everything you wished for, and maybe even a little more.
Here at Rockin’ Threads Creations, the year started in a calm and cosy way. New Year’s Eve was a relaxed one, with me hosting a radio show while Alex enjoyed his regular New Year’s Day show. And while he’s busy on air, I’m tucked away with a hot coffee, writing this blog and easing gently into the first week of the year.
January always feels like a month for slower mornings, warm drinks, and quiet creativity, and that’s exactly what’s happening behind the scenes.
Wedding bouquets in the making 💐
I’ve recently finished a wedding bouquet featuring soft pink roses and delicate baby’s breath. Right now, I’m working on a new variation using rich red roses. It’s almost finished, and once it is, I’ll be photographing it and creating listings for both my website and Etsy shop. These bouquets take time, but each one is carefully crafted to be treasured forever.
January Birth Month Flower: The Carnation 🌸
A new month means a new birth flower, and January belongs to the Carnation. This beautiful bloom symbolizes love, fascination, and devotion, making it a meaningful flower for gifting or displaying in your home.
Paired with January’s flower is the Garnet crystal, known for its grounding energy, protection, and strength. It’s a powerful crystal to begin the year with, encouraging confidence and passion as we move forward into 2026.
My crocheted January carnations are available in both my web shop and Etsy shop, perfect if you love flowers that never fade.
What would you love to read about this year?
Now that I’ve covered all the birth month flowers and crystals in my monthly blogs, I’m working on new ideas for 2026. This month is going to be all about the flower of the year 2026. Maybe there’s a flower you adore and would love to learn more about? Or perhaps topics around handmade living, home décor, or meaningful gifting?
I’d love your input, feel free to reach out and let me know what you’d enjoy seeing on the blog this year. You can comment underneath the blog or send me an email on willeke@rockinthreadscreations.co.uk
A little Valentine’s sneak peek ❤️
Although it may feel early, Valentine’s Day will be here before we know it. Alongside classic roses, I’ll soon be sharing alternative Valentine’s gifts, like birth month flowers or crocheted hearts, with or without stems. With stem you can add them to your valentines bouquet.
Keep an eye on the blog, newsletter, and social media, as there may be a Valentine’s Sale coming soon.
As I step into this new year of Rockin’ Threads Creations, my focus is on creating with intention, refining favourite designs, and staying connected with this wonderful community. Thank you, as always, for your support, it truly means the world.
Here’s to a creative, cosy, and flower-filled 2026.
Catch you all soon!

Bloom Into December with the Narcissus
The Meaning Behind December’s Bloom: The Narcissus
December’s birth flower, the Narcissus, is a symbol of hope, renewal, and brighter days ahead. With its elegant, trumpet-shaped bloom, it has long been associated with positivity, charm, and warmth — exactly what we crave during the winter season.
Gifting Narcissus flowers is also thought to bring good fortune and prosperity, making it a thoughtful and meaningful present during the holidays.
Pairing the Narcissus With December’s Crystal
This month, the Narcissus pairs beautifully with Turquoise, December’s crystal of the month.
💙 Known for protection, clarity, and calming energy, Turquoise brings balance and peace to your winter home.
💙 Together with the Narcissus, it symbolizes renewal and emotional clarity — the perfect way to close the year on a meaningful note.
Use this combination in your décor, gift-giving, or personal space to bring soft winter magic and a little extra glow to December.
Why I Chose to Crochet the Narcissus
Each birth flower I create begins with research. I study the anatomy, symbolism, traditional colours, and little quirks that make each bloom special. With the Narcissus, the goal was to recreate that delicate trumpet centre and soft, layered petals — a unique challenge but a joy to bring to life.
Crocheted flowers allow me to blend creativity with storytelling. Every petal is a little piece of heritage, symbolism, and beauty that lasts forever.

🌸 From Yarn to Bloom: How My Crochet Flowers Come to Life
As the air turns crisp and the leaves turn golden, I can really feel the holiday season starting up. Orders are picking up, and my studio is buzzing with colourful yarn and half-finished petals — it’s my favourite kind of busy!
I absolutely love creating crochet flowers for you lovely people — whether it’s a special gift for someone you care about or a way to bring everlasting beauty into your own home.
So, before I dive into another bundle of yarn, grab a warm drink and join me. I’ve got my hot chocolate with a splash of Baileys (yummy!) — the perfect creative fuel for a cozy evening. ☕🍫
🌼 The Secret Behind My Realistic Crochet Flowers
People often ask how I make my flowers look so realistic. The truth? It’s a mix of patience, yarn tangles, research, and a whole lot of love. 💕
Before I ever pick up my hook, I make myself a nice cup of coffee — my little moment of calm before the creativity begins. It’s my fuel, my ritual, and somehow the first step in every flower I create.
Once my coffee is in hand, I start researching crochet patterns and studying real flowers — their shapes, layers, and delicate colour blends. I want every petal to feel alive and true to nature.
A big part of my process is exploring patterns on Etsy from talented crochet designers or looking up helpful tutorials on YouTube for inspiration. When I use a design created by someone else, I always make sure to reach out to the designer and ask if it’s okay to sell the finished flowers in my shop. It’s not something that’s required, but I believe it’s the decent and respectful thing to do — after all, creativity deserves appreciation and acknowledgment. 🌷
🧶 From Pattern to Petal
Sometimes I’ll start with a traditional crochet pattern and tweak it until it captures exactly the look I’m after — adjusting petal shapes, colours, or layers. Other times, I’ll design my own pattern completely from scratch (which usually means a small mountain of test petals before I get it right!).
Once I’ve perfected the pattern, it’s time to bring it to life — petal by petal, stitch by stitch. It’s slow, detailed work, but it’s the part I love most. There’s something truly magical about watching a flower bloom from a simple ball of yarn.
Each one takes time, but that’s what makes it special — every flower has its own little story and touch of personality. And knowing it will bring joy for years to come makes every stitch worth it. 🌸
🌿 The Joy of Handmade
Creating crochet flowers isn’t just about yarn and patterns — it’s about connection. Every time I send one out, I know it’s going to brighten someone’s day, decorate a home, or carry a special meaning. That’s what keeps me inspired.
If you’d like to see a bit more of what goes on behind the stitches, I’ve shared some photos below.
