Cold weather, warm stitches

I’ll be honest, when I sat down to write this blog post, my brain was about as grey as the weather outside. Zero inspiration, cold fingers, and a strong urge to just make another cup of coffee instead. ☕😅

So before we go any further, grab yourself a hot brew (or whatever keeps you warm), get comfy, and let’s dive in.

Perfect weather for crochet

It’s cold, it’s wet, and everything outside feels a bit miserable. But if there’s one upside to this weather, it’s that it’s perfect crochet weather.

This is the kind of season where slowing down feels natural. The rain taps on the windows, the days feel a little heavier, and suddenly sitting with yarn and a hook feels like exactly where you’re meant to be.

Behind the scenes at Rockin’ Threads Creations

Lately, I’ve been spending my days crocheting stock for Love Local Hub MK. Lots of repeating stitches, counting rows (and recounting them…), and watching handmade pieces slowly come together.

There’s something really comforting about this part of the process. It’s quiet, steady, and reminds me why I love creating handmade flowers in the first place.

Why crochet flowers shine in winter

This time of year always reminds me why crocheted flowers are so special. When fresh flowers struggle in the cold, crochet blooms keep bringing colour, warmth, and a little bit of joy into your home.

No watering. No wilting. Just long-lasting beauty that doesn’t mind grey skies.

A little love on a stem

If winter feels a bit heavy (and honestly, it often does), thoughtful gifts mean even more. That’s why my Birth Month Flowers are one of my favourite pieces to make.

February’s birth flower: Violet 💜

As we step into February, its birth flower takes centre stage and it is the violet. Violets symbolise loyalty, faithfulness, and quiet strength. They may be small, but they carry a lot of meaning, making them a beautiful reminder that strength doesn’t always need to shout.

To add a little extra warmth, I’ve introduced a heart on a stem. A small, meaningful addition that feels like a hug in yarn form. Right now, when you buy a February Birth Month Flower (or any birth month flower), you can get the heart on a stem with 15% off.

It’s perfect for February birthdays, thoughtful “just because” gifts, or a gentle reminder to yourself that you’re doing alright.

Wedding florals that last forever

Behind the scenes, I’m also working on something special for couples planning their big day. My buttonhole wedding corsages and bridesmaids bouquets will soon be available online only through my Etsy shop and website.

Crochet wedding flowers are designed to last. No wilting, no rushing, and something you can keep long after the day itself. Even in the depths of winter, love stories are always quietly being planned.

January Behind the Scenes at Rockin’ Threads Creations.

January is often called the “quiet” month for small businesses , but behind the scenes at Rockin’ Threads Creations, it’s been anything but slow.

This week has been one of those weeks where the to-do list never quite ends. Between creating long-promised new listings, photographing products, hosting a crochet class, and attempting to keep on top of housework (I’m convinced my cleaning fairies took the week off), it’s been full-on. Luckily, Alex has been a huge help while juggling everything alongside his radio show.

As busy as it gets, I truly wouldn’t change it. Being able to work from home, create handmade flowers, and pour love into meaningful pieces is exactly why Rockin’ Threads Creations exists.

New crocheted wedding bouquets

One of the biggest wins this week was finally launching my crocheted wedding bouquets. These bouquets are designed for brides who want something timeless, personal, and everlasting, a keepsake that can be cherished long after the big day.

And yes, for the photoshoot I had to model them myself. With no wedding dress available, an old satin sheet had to do, small business life at its finest! Sometimes you just have to make it work and have a laugh along the way.

Crocheted hearts for Valentine’s and beyond

I’ve also added crocheted hearts to the shop. Including hearts on stems, single hearts, and support hearts. These make lovely Valentine’s gifts, thoughtful additions to bouquets, or small tokens of love.

Some of these hearts are made as comfort or support hearts. They are gentle keepsakes created for moments when words don’t quite feel like enough, whether that’s offering reassurance, remembering a loved one, or simply letting someone know they’re not alone. Each one is made with care, intention, and understanding.

A full website refresh

This week also came with a big behind-the-scenes change: I completely refreshed my website. Every product is now available in the web shop again, the branding has been updated, and I’m now writing a weekly blog to share what’s happening behind the scenes at Rockin’ Threads Creations.

If you haven’t had a look yet, there’s lots to explore. From handmade crochet flowers to stories about the process behind them.

January: a month of renewal

January may look quiet from the outside, but for me it’s become a month of renewal, updating, and laying foundations for the year ahead. It’s busy, creative, and full of intention and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thank you, as always, for supporting my small business, sharing my work, and being part of the Rockin’ Threads Creations community. Your support means more than you know.

Catch you all next week, with more Rockin’ Threads Creations stories.
